Who was the First Settler in Granite?
In an effort to answer this question, John Brantley researched 10 different men whose names have been associated with early Granite history by local historians and amateur genealogists and in print over the years. He discovered that three of those 10 never actually lived in Granite. And he discovered that the first person to actually live in Granite was John Petticoat, who settled on property between Dogwood and Ridge Roads, later referred to as “Worthington Manor,” home to Thomas Worthington and his descendants for 150 years. John presented his finding in this lecture on March 18, 2025. Video soon!
